Section 75 of the Consumer Credit Act 1974 means your credit card company becomes Jointly and Severally liable for your purchases over £100. If your package holiday company goes bust, your credit card company is usually the easiest to claim from. Even if you buy a defective sofa you can claim from the credit card as being unfit for purpose under the Sale of Goods Act 1979.
