I am delighted the Law Society has recommended to Solicitors that they should continue to only recommend Independent Financial Advisors to their clients and not recommend tied agents in the new regime. Only Independent Financial Advisors can guarantee to search the whole market for the best deal. I simply cannot fathom why a Solicitor, who needs to work in the best interests of his or her client, would recommend an annuity search from a salesman who can only look at a restricted list of providers when an IFA will complete a much more comprehensive search.
