I was pleased to read that the Government has extended its deadline for claims for compensation for those people caught out by the Equitable Life failure. The pensions industry has been rocked with a number of problems and it is important that some of them are put right. The Government should also do more to educate the British public that the problems revolving around Equitable Life should not dissuade them or postpone them from saving in pensions and the group personal pension schemes offered by employers will not have any issues similar to the Equitable Life.
