Despite my many entries on this blog about Payment Protection Insurance (PPI) I think the FSA’s proposed investigation into salespeople’s remuneration structures will be a complete waste of money, as reported in the following article http://www.moneymarketing.co.uk/regulation/lord-turner-confirms-fsa-direct-sales-probe/1053965.article What needs to happen are those individuals who can be proven to be personally responsible for miss-selling PPI should be formally disciplined and warn the industry that in future such cases will lead to either a permanent or temporary ban from working in the Financial Services sector. The FSA should also actively promote the use by the general public of Independent Financial Advisors who are proper professionals who are there to put their client’s interest first. An IFA worth his or her salt would not sell an insurance policy the client could not make a valid claim under. I predict a lot more money will be spent, and effectual action will not arise as a result.rnrnThis information is intended to provide a general review of certain topics and its purpose is to inform but not to recommend or support any specific investment or course of action.
